About The Elastic Band
Whether playing ballads or up-tempo "hot" themes, The Elastic Band are guaranteed to provide the very best in tasteful, swinging jazz. Specialising in the "swing" era of the 30s, 40s and 50s, the band have an enormous repertoire covering countless "standards" from the golden age of musicals, and jazz themes made famous by artists such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie.
Why Elastic? Because the band expand and contract from quartet to eight-piece according to your requirements and budget. With regular rhythm section of guitar and double bass (a drummer can also be added), the frontline can include any combination of clarinet, trumpet, saxophone and female vocalist. Our quoted price is for a quartet of rhythm section plus clarinet and trumpet. Please contact us for the price for a bigger line up, with or without vocalist.
The band have played at weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs and corporate functions. They have also performed at West End hotels and clubs, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal National Theatre, the Barbican, the official opening of the Channel Tunnel, Leeds Castle and numerous jazz clubs and festivals in the UK and abroad.
The Elastic Band normally stay at an engagement for around three hours, during which time they would play for about two-and-a-half hours with a couple of 15 minute breaks. They will happily fit in with your musical needs and can provide a programme including both background music and dance music, dressing formally or informally to suit the occasion. The band bring their own professional PA system.
