Formed and led by Colombian lead singer Martha Acosta-Nino, Manteca is the band to add some Latin spice to your party or event. This is an all-live band, with no sequencers or other electronic backing tracks, enabling it to have maximum flexibility of repertoire and providing that unbeatable live sound. The band starts as a five-piece group which is perfect for smaller parties such as weddings or private celebrations and our quoted price is for a line-up of keyboard, bass, drums, saxophone and Martha doing vocals and percussion. For a really explosive sound, the band can be augmented with more “horns” – trumpet and sax – and extra Latin percussion up to a full 10-piece group.
This is a dynamic, all-singing, all-dancing show, playing salsa, merengue, cumbia, cha-cha, bossa and Latin jazz. If you’re new to Latin dancing, don’t worry – Martha and her team can demonstrate some of the basic steps, but these rhythms are so infectious that you will have no problems getting your guests (of all ages) on to the dance floor.
Martha and her band have performed at numerous corporate functions, parties, wedding receptions and other celebrations. Corporate clients include Channel 4, Carlton Television, Saatchi & Saatchi, Cornhill, British Gas and Touche Ross; and venues played at include Gleneagles Golf Club, The Royal Academy of Art, The Natural History Museum, Mezzo restaurant and the Fashion Café.
The band performs for up to two hours divided into two or three sets. Manteca brings a full PA system and a compact lighting rig and can play CDs or tapes during their breaks.
